Ketoconazole
Indications/Uses
Fungal skin infections: tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea manus, tinea pedis, tinea versicolor, candidiasis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply thinly once daily. Resistant infections Apply twice daily. Duration therapy: Tinea corporis 3-4 wk; tinea versicolor & candida infections 2-3 wk; tinea cruris 2-4 wk; tinea pedis 4-6 wk.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Monitor physiology of liver during long-term treatment (>14 days). Do not apply on the eyes. Sensitization or irritation (discontinue). May cause overgrowth of nonsensitive microorganisms. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, skin rash, urticaria, headache, constipation, pruritus, hypersensitivity reactions, hepatotoxicity, gynecomastia, thrombocytopenia, paresthesia, photophobia, exanthema, dizziness, alopecia, anaphylactic reactions, fever & tremors, somnolence, impotence. Irritation, pruritus, skin redness, burning sensation.
